Hey guys,
I have a weird problem:
Yesterday I set up a new Plex Media Server. It scans my media correctly and adds covers etc.
But I can’t play any file and instead a message pops up saying “there was a problem playing this item”. I have enough free space on the volume (about 60gb), so this can’t be the problem. What could it be?
Check the media info.
If informations about codec and bitrate are largely absent, then the item hasn’t been analysed yet.
You can trigger analysis manually for that item, wait 5 minutes and then repeat the playback attempt
I am having the same problem with a small number of files that play back fine using VLC and similar. Analysis is done, all media info is displayed. Free space isn’t an issue, and the files don’t contain anything that requires transcoding. I can direct play these troublesome files using the web app (multichannel audio and 24hz working fine) but Media Player still gives an error.

Plex XML info
and if possible a sample of the offending file would be very welcome.

I tried OpenPHT and it works fine. For a piece of software initially designed around the needs of the mac user, it seems like we have been forgotten about in the need to sell apps (presumably to pay for all that corporate swag!).
@mischkaffee, provide the information Otto asked for - otherwise we can’t help.
I’ve seen this in a few videos in the past. I just found one which you can download, for testing purposes, which shows the problem on my server, at least. Look online for Fantastic.Beasts.and.Where.to.Find.Them.2016.1080p.BluRay.x264.DTS-FGT. The MKV file contained within appears to show the errors below.

On the client, you receive the error about having a problem playing this file.
