Problem scanning series-dir with 1000+ episodes

Hi,

I have problems with adding episodes of one serie.

  • linux ext3 filesystem
  • all movie files are in one dir “/daten/Media/Movies.Serien/Tatort/”
  • Naming of the files:

But the Scanner find only 37 episodes:

season 1: 34 episodes
season 6:  1 episode
season 10: 1 episode
season 20: 1 episode

What can i do?

The naming is off…

If you add Tatort to a movie library, than use the seasons according to themoviedb: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/3034-tatort/seasons?language=de

If you add Tatort to a TV show library, than use the seasons according to thetvdb:
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/scene-of-the-crime-1/seasons/all

The difference is in the naming of the seasons. Still, if you don’t provide any season at all, neither scanner will successfully detect the episodes.

If you use any other agent than these two, have a look in the respective database which scheme is used there in terms of season naming.

To augment,

FileBot & TheRenamer are two tools which make short work of this:

I use this in FileBot. I can rename the entire library in about 5 minutes:

  /nas/tv/{n}/Season {s.pad(2)}/{n} - {s00e00} - {t}

FileBot makes provisions for date-based series as well as > 100 episodes / season. (s00e000)

i will test this with symbolic links, i dont want to rename the files, looks for the best way.

It looks like themoviedb.org doesn’t have the special episodes.

examples:
E0168a Hirth Fahrerflucht
E0171a Hirth Des Glückes Rohstoff
E0176a Hirth Strindbergs Früchte

At thetvdb.com they are listed as Season 1/Specials.
However, the listing of thetvdb.com is not complete, e.g. 1970 is not named.

What an annoying…

@flow: how do you handle this episodes?
