Previously, I had no issue playing the pixar movie Up on my LG tv. Recently, the same file tries to load with no success. I have been using my LG TVs native Plex app. I also tried Roku and Chromecast with the same issue. On chromecast, I could get 10 or so seconds of video and then a long pause while Plex tried to buffer the video. The video plays fine on my desktop computer, mobile devices, and iPad.
The file is an h264 compressed video. Other videos seem to play fine.
My Plex server is on a QNAP TS-253A NAS drive. I did notice spikes in CPU usage during playback. But the system has not changed other than firmware updates. It was previously able to stream content just fine. And it’s able to successfully stream to my computers and mobile devices. I am using the most current version of Plex on the LG.
Appreciate any assistance. I feel this is probably related to Plex implementation on the TV and streaming stick devices.
I too have recently noticed many of my media files that had previously had no issue playing are now buffering on my Roku. The Roku was updated on June 26, and I’m running the very latest Plex software. I’ve dedicated 16G of RAM, 8 cores, and a fiber channel storage array that can push well over 400MB/sec to the server. The speed in my log files is showing > 5, and most of the time >10. I have no idea what’s going on with this, and playing with the quality and direct stream, etc. had no impact. I am using 4M 1080 on the Roku app for quality and constant buffering is making it unwatchable. The player is running on my Roku stick directly into the HDMI port on my living room TV.
I’ve not had issues playing back recorded content until the past few days, and now it’s nearly unwatchable due to all of the “buffering” events thru the video.
