Problem with playing downloaded content

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9314-a0bfb8370
Player Version#: 10.26.0.2578 (6cc7ea1a)

I’ve got a problem with content downloaded from my Plex Media Server, when I stream the content from my PM Server the video plays as intended but when I try to play it after downloading it using the Download option in Plex for Android then I got the “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again”, the same downloaded file played on Windows (using plex for windows and using the download function on the app) woks like a charm so the problem is with the Android app (tested on Samsung S23 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and the MSI App Player Android emulator)…

Please help!!!

On the link below I attach the logs generated on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9:

I have the same problem on two Lenovo X606* Android tablets since forever. But strangely, it works perfectly on two Android phones, windows & Linux.

I upgraded one of the two Lenovo-Tabs from Android 10 (the latest OS updated by Lenovo) to Android 12 (LineageOS 19): Same problem.

I wonder if the problem is not clearly related to the Android application and that would require the developers to look into it!

When playing the file from your server, it’s it direct playing or transcoded? My guess is that the device is telling pms that the original file can be direct played so it tries that first but fails so pms transcodes and playback works. When downloaded, it again would have said the file was supported and downloaded it as-in,m. There is no transcode backup option so it just fails. Try changing the download setting to use a lower quality that way it forces a transcode during download. This version of the file should then play correctly.
