Having the same issue here. In fact, it extends to the “Media Player” App Microsoft put out a while back. So it would seem it’s on Microsoft’s side, and not Plex’s
I’ve testing running the same video via USB on “Media Player” app, so it definitely can’t be Plex’s Server causing the issue, or Plex’s App. Somehow windows screwed up their HEVC H.265 codec. I tested this on a Ring 1 XBOX (Green Screen) and a non-Preview XBOX (No Green Screen). Will test on a Ring 3 soon.
Having same issue on a newly setup Xbox One S. Perfect audio. Green screen during playback…
EDIT: I have an original Xbox One and it has no issues playing back the same file. Soon as I use Xbox One S to playback the file I get a green screen and perfect order. Seems the issue only impacting Xbox One S. The workaround suggested works but that puts load on the server as transcode is now required.
Just got my Xbox one s and I’m having the same issue with any x265 content. The only solution is to turn off DIrect Play which isn’t much of a solution.

I have the same issue, original xbox one worked fine without having to transcode, with the xbox one s and direct play enabled it just shows a green screen.
even if the problem is actually on Microsoft’s side, as some posts here suggest, it is still impacting the Plex product.
surely that is a dialogue Plex would want to have have with MS to mitigate the situation?
Hi there. Is this happening for all your HEVC content or only some?

That seems quite suspicious. The Xbox One and Xbox One S apps are completely identical and also have the same codec support. Could someone provide a sample file as I never managed to reproduce this issue on my Xbox.

I have a smallish video that green screens on my xbox one s, sending you a PM
I’ve also experienced this issue only with Xbox One S, while original Xbox One doesn’t have any issues. Also it is only some HEVC content from my experience.
