There was an update to the Samsung TV app recently that fixed this issue for a lot of people, so make sure you are updated. Otherwise follow this thread for more updates since a lot of people still have issues: Playback error on samsung tv - #80 by mikiwolf
Everything is updated, should work… But problem is still here
I tried evry solutions form the topic, but nothing works fine.
Hope Plex will send another update quickly !
Same issue reported here. 3 samsung tv’s all get the “Playback error, and unexpected playback problem occurred” From the server side i see them connect then immediately drop. Roku works fine, as do other devices.
I’m getting a similar issue on 2021 Q60A as well with a 4K HDR video.
I’ve enabled debugging and the following error messages appeared when I wanted to start the video:
Caught exception trying to convert extra data attribute ‘originallyAvailableAt’ with type 1 and value ‘2021-10-29’ ~ bad lexical cast: source type value could not be interpreted as target
[Plex for Samsung] [redacted] _onOnPlayPauseInvokedChanged is not defined for @autoCallback property: onPlayPauseInvoked
[Plex for Samsung] [redacted] [AVPlay[1] (IDLE)] onAVPlayError: PLAYER_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED_FORMAT
[Plex for Samsung] [redacted] Playback error occurred. Reason: BufferingTimeout, Player took too long buffering, stopping playback
[Plex for Samsung] [redacted] [PlaybackSessionController] could not retry, reporting error

I hope so too! I’ve been dealing with this issue since before thanksgiving at least. Half my library no longer streams on this darn 2021 Samsung frame. So annoying to have to turn off direct play and direct stream after the audio cuts out 30seconds in, or I get the unexpected playback error. Live tv sucks too for some reason… but I can watch it fine via the tv’s built in DLNA. That’s another story tho, where plex decides to transcode into a 60mb stream for live tv. And don’t get me started about how plex constantly selects the wrong audio streams half the time, and switching from French to English for example, does nothing - plex just wants me to learn French I guess
Works great on the Apple TV, I can see where the plex dev $’s are funneled.
