Problems after moving Plex Media Server

Server Version#: Version 1.20.1.3252
My Plex server is on a VPS running Ubuntu 16.04. I wanted to clone that installation onto a local Raspberry PI 4 (RPI4). After shutting down the Ubuntu server, zipping up copying and extracting into the RPI4, everything seemed fine. The server is online I can login, changed the name, and have scans running to update the library to the new media location.

However, I need to have both servers online, and when I restart the Ubuntu server, it is available in Plex, however, the RPI4 is no longer available. I’m guessing there is something in the Plex files that identifies the server, and that changing the name is not enough.

Question: What do I need to do to the clone Plex server on the RPI4 so that I can see both the Ubuntu and the RPI4 online at the same time.

Thanks

The preferences.xml file that contains the machine identifier and other settings. Two servers can’t have the same one. not sure if you were needing to clone settings or just the metadata etc

stop one of them from running. back up the file “just in case”, delete the file, and start the server again and it should create a new one for that server. It will be like a brand new server asking you to name it and it might go through the First time set up wizard but you can skip the wizard and all the media libraries should still be there.

@BigWheel, good man…cheers. I copied the entire library folder, as I wanted all of my Collections and custom posters to be intact., figured that was the best way to go about it.
