Problems matching with TheTVDB

I agree that it would be nice to get a response from Plex. This bug plus Plex Media Scanner exiting on signal 11 needs to be addressed. Hopefully these have a high priority on Plex’s backlog.

I too would like some kind of comment on these issues. Looking on the signal 11 thread I do not get the impression of a high priority on freebsd specific errors, though…

Having the same issue. Plex you need to get this fixed…

I’ve been having it for a while now… i never really thought to check here for a solution, as I would just ‘GOOGLE’ it (and get no answers for anything recent), so I just left it.

Every new TV show shows up as “Episode XX”.

Would be nice if it could get fixed though

Just here to confirm. If I can do anything to help you guys with a fix, let me know.

I am starting to look at alternatives now. This TVDB issue has been dragging on for too long and also constant crashing of the UWP app.

Can those of you who have chimed in on this issue report back with what OS and package your using of Plex Media Server. Trying to find the root cause and repro setup.

Currently I can’t reproduce this with FreeNAS 9.10, so hoping more details will help us narrow in on the issue.

Hi ziggimon,

thank you for your reply. I am using:

FreeBSD freebsd 10.1-RELEASE-p9 FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE-p9 #0: Tue Apr 7 01:09:46 UTC 2015 root@amd64-builder.daemonology.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64

Plex is installed through the ports collection (plexmedia-plexpass), every version above 1.2.7 has the problem.
Has the python version plex comes with changed in 1.3 onwards?

Best regards,

Tilman

I’m using

FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 (86c7ef5)
plexmediaserver-1.3.3.3148-amd64 (Installed from FreeNAS plugin)

My Plex plugin was originally installed on FreeNAS-9.3. I always update Plex from the FreeNAS GUI.

Windows 10 and Plex Server 1.3.3.3148

Correct Python has been bumped from 2.7.8 → 2.7.12. Though I haven’t seen the issue on neither FreeNAS 9.3.1 which has the old FreeBSD 9 kernel, nor on 9.10 which has the BSD 10.3 kernel.

Are there any other specifics that pertain to TV shows thats causing this on your system. Like can I haz your entire log directory?

/Mark

That seems to be the root of the problem then. If I interprete my logs correctly, you are using sslwrap, which has been removed from python >=2.7.9:

Both Windows and NAS running Plex Version 1.3.3.3148 are not syncing with TVDB
Windows version is 14393.693
NAS is Thecus. Not sure Linux version.

It is installed inside a jail.

Installed Plex Version:1.3.3.3148

I’d show a screen shot, but it would all be the same thing… Show Name, Episode xx. It doesn’t show the name for anything new. Now, I have a test server on my windows desktop, and it seems to get the show names properly (or it did the last time i added a show on it in December).

EDIT: Windows has the same issue for me on my test server. It won’t pull in the episode names, but oddly enough, it will pull in the cover art…

Check the version of python your plex plugin in Freenas is using

I had to install the plex plugin again which came with a newer version of python - despite the plugin version being the same.

You can restore the DB backup as per https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202485658-Restore-a-Database-Backed-Up-via-Scheduled-Tasks- into your new plex plugin install

Interesting data-point. I would be very interested in hearing about the results of re-installing the plugin. Though I don’t understand how the python version could have stayed the same in the plugin. As we bumped Python in 1.3.0 so any plugin with that version should include the latest 2.7.12 version we are shipping with.

I am using

FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 (86c7ef5)

Plexmediaserver 1.3.3.3148

Installed via the plugin tab.

This is taking a long time to fix isn’t it ? Any idea of an ETA ?

I’m having issues as well. Mine showing up when there are episodes that fall under “Special” heading or folder. I am doing the folder/file name just as Plex recommends in the FAQ too. Was going to post side by side pictures from my Meder8er and Plex Server. Meder8er works perfectly. Shows the “Special” folder with the correct icon/image. Plex keeps dumping it into a Season folder and apparently doesn’t “see” the “Special” folder at all.

Point is its not TVDB that is the problem If the Meder8er did same thing as the Plex Server would think is might be TVDB and not Plex’s problem.

I hit the TVDB forum last night. Lots of complaints about Plex’s implementation of TV episode information and how it scrapes incorrectly.

Given others are reporting this not going to post the side by shot pictures which show the issue. Something is not right with the TVDB scrapping in Plex.

As others have reported the movie scrapping works just fine.

Mine is working fine. I have found that I have needed to put the year next to the folder on some occasions when trying to get it recognized. Other than that, all is working good for me.
