Problems matching with TheTVDB

Mine is working fine. I have found that I have needed to put the year next to the folder on some occasions when trying to get it recognized. Other than that, all is working good for me.

Then why are you posting in here ? especially when all you put is “mine is working fine”

Good for you m8 why don’t you go and post that in a load of other forum posts I’m sure lots of people will be interested to know that your’s is working fine, while they are having problems.

If you want to be helpfull then don’t just put that yours is ok.

Try something like I am using the same version of plex media server and the same version of freebsd or freenas as you guys are that are having the problem and mine is ok.

For all we know you are using windows 7 and plex media server 0.9.7 which ain’t helping anybody.

If you just came to gloat then try somewhere else next time.

oh and great first forum post btw. I’m sure you will be a great asset to the community on here ^:)^

I am having issues (as I reported before) with both Windows10, and unraid versons of Plex. This happened with the last, or the one prior to that, where it wouldn’t pull the episode name. I have episodes from December that have been named properly, for instance The Big Bang Theory, S10E10 was fine, but S10E11 wasn’t. So, that seems to be that something happened between Dec1 and Dec15 (I am pretty good with updates when they are available).

Hope that this narrows things down… none of the naming conventions have changed on my server, so that’s not the issue. I don’t even know where to look in the logs for the failures.

Hope I have shed some light on this situation!

Yes as @lokipo wrote in the first post it seems that the last version of PMS where the tvdb tracker was working is 1.2.7.

Unfortunately for those of us using FreeNAS who already updated the PMS plugin to 1.3.0 or higher, it seems there is no easy way to downgrade or roll back to 1.2.7.

I have unmatched a couple of tv shows that PMS pulled metadata from the tvdb years ago on the same system but obviously with a much older version of the PMS plugin.
When I try to rematch them now with 1.3.3 I get nothing, so this problem as a few other people have mentioned, has nothing to do with naming because those files haven’t been touched for a long long time and worked fine before.

Anyway for the time being and until Plex have fixed the tvdb tracker I just match them manually using the tmdb tracker instead.

The only thing is, the tmdb is nowhere near as complete as the tvdb for tv shows.

On a positive note though for the tmdb, I have been updating their database for them because of this. And I’m sure a few other people have too.

Good luck with getting this fixed guys and girls, I hope it’s a nice easy fix and happens sooner rather than later

I am using

FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 (86c7ef5)

Plexmediaserver 1.3.3.3148

Installed via the plugin tab.

This is taking a long time to fix isn’t it ? Any idea of an ETA ?

Is your plugin installed on an earlier version of FreeNAS? Eg. 9.3?

No ETA until we find the root cause. Only a limited number of users are seeing this so we are still trying to track down the right data points.

I’m having issues as well. Mine showing up when there are episodes that fall under “Special” heading or folder. I am doing the folder/file name just as Plex recommends in the FAQ too. Was going to post side by side pictures from my Meder8er and Plex Server. Meder8er works perfectly. Shows the “Special” folder with the correct icon/image. Plex keeps dumping it into a Season folder and apparently doesn’t “see” the “Special” folder at all.

Point is its not TVDB that is the problem If the Meder8er did same thing as the Plex Server would think is might be TVDB and not Plex’s problem.

I hit the TVDB forum last night. Lots of complaints about Plex’s implementation of TV episode information and how it scrapes incorrectly.

Given others are reporting this not going to post the side by shot pictures which show the issue. Something is not right with the TVDB scrapping in Plex.

As others have reported the movie scrapping works just fine.

Are these shows that exist in multiple reboots? And what happens if you have the year added to the shows parent folder. E.g. The Flash (1990)

Also if your not seeing the sslwrap error in the log, this is not related to the issue we are tracking in this thread.

Any chance you can verify your logs for sslwrap error messages?

Hi no it was not.

When FreeNAS 9.10 was released I deleted all of my plugins / jails from 9.3 and started them over from scratch on on 9.10.

Everything worked fine after I did this for months.

It is only since upgrading from PMS 1.2.7 to 1.3.3 a few weeks back that there has been a problem.

So just to clarify that again.

My current PMS plugin was not created until after FreeNAS 9.10 had been installed.

Quite interesting. I as late as last week did a FN 9.10 install and added PMS 1.3.3 which in return showed no issues. I’ll try and set things up with 1.2.7 and upgrade to 1.3.3 and see if thats a key data point.

Thanks for clarifying.

I currently have all logging turned off on PMS.

If you tell me what logging to enable I will unmatch an old tv show that worked fine before and try to rematch it with the tvdb tracker.

Then will post the log for you obviously

Just found this in tvdb agent log

‘module’ object has no attribute ‘sslwrap’
2017-01-23 22:10:18,364 (805bc8800)

and this in media scanner log

ERROR - Failed to determine system locale: locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid. Defaulting to en-US

tvdb agent log again

JWT Error: (‘module’ object has no attribute ‘sslwrap’)

So I just deleted a show from my tv shows folder. I then refreshed the tv library on plex so it was gone completely and then I also emptied the trash.
EDIT ! I also disabled logging and deleted all the previous old logs.

I then enabled logging, copied the show back to my tv shows folder and refreshed the plex tv library once again.

I have added 2 pictures showing what is there and also the tvdb log

Oh and for anyone trying to read the logs I recommend you use Notepad++ as it is displayed so much more readable than normal notepad.

Hopefully you are able to replicate the issue. I just created a new jail and installed Plex 1.3.3 in FreeNAS. I no longer have the sslwrap issue. This tells me that the issue is somehow related to updating from an earlier version. Keep in mind that I’ve only tested this with one TV show episode. I didn’t add my entire library.

I’ll wait to see what you find out. I may end up installing Plex in a jail anyway so I can update it quicker that the FreeNAS plugin route.

One thing is that Plex needs to update its FAQ for scraping TV episodes.

When there’s a Special Plex suggest a folder structure that for some Series does not work.

Here’s an example. Plex says use a folder “Specials”.

But there’s no “Specials” in the d/l .xml file from TVDB.

The correct folder structure and naming scheme for those folders is “Season 0” or “Season 0 - Specials”.
