I have 3 Netgear Orbi satellites that create a mesh. My Windows plex server is hard wired to the to one of the satellites along with my living room TV. Plex works great in this situation. Any other TV not connected to that satellite keeps buffering and eventually gives up.
After some troubleshooting, I here’s what I noticed.
1.) If I ping my Plex server computer from any other computer and location in my house, I have very little latency and no dropped packets. (until)…
2.) The moment I attempt to play a movie in 1080p from any of my other TVs (besides the living room TV), packets immediately start dropping. It’s as if there is some sort of packet flood and the Orbi satellite doesn’t know what to do with. In turn, the movie starts buffering every few seconds until the Plex client tells me there is no movie to play.
3.) The plex stream seems to kill the connection between the Orbi satellites since the last Plex update.
4.) There is no issue if the TV or streaming device is on the same Orbi satellite.
Any idea why the Orbi satellites are unable to handle the traffic all of a sudden?
