We just converted to HughesNet service. I had issues getting the Dell Optiplex 7010 running Windows 10 to connect to the internet but finally got it working. But now while I can connect to the Plex Server on that desktop. I can not stream content form the plex system to the TV. I get delays and a few frames then more waiting. Takes about 10 minutes to get less than 10 seconds of video. What could be causing that issue?
Plex may not work well with a Satellite based Internet system due to the high latency in packets.
How would the latency in packets impact something that doesn’t transverse the Satellite channel. This is going from desktop computer, to wifi router, to TV.
Check your router and you will see Plex does a lot of communication outside your house and in this case your sat. These communication packets will have a very high latency and video doesn’t like it.
What you will want to try and do as a diagnostic is search for some of the threads that talk about how to run Plex offline when you don’t have Internet access. Read and try that to see if this improves your problem. Also good knowledge to know/have tried so you are ready for the day when you lose internet and Plex.
You could have additional issues going on as well.
