Problems with network/plex environment

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: 4.87.2 (web); newest on FireTV Stick

Hi all,

I’ve got a problem with my infrastructure / plex environment.

Here is my configuration (WLAN Mesh):

  • Fritz.Box-Router in Office
→ Fritz.Repeater in the living room
–>> RasPi as PlexMediaServer (USB disks for storage attached); wired at the Repeater
–>> SmartTV Plex App; TV wired at the Repeater
    → Fritz.Repeater in child’s room
–>> Plex App on FireTV Stick; wired at the Repeater
    → Fritz.Repeater in bedroom
–>> Plex App on FireTV Stick; wired at the Repeater

There are no problems in the living room (server and client wired at the same repeater) and in the child’s room - no matter which format or quality of the movie.

But, when I’ll watch a movie (720p, 1080p, …, which will work in the other rooms) in the bedroom, it buffered all the time.

Do you have a hint, what I can do?
Are there some configuration options, that the movies will be streamed in lower quality to the bedroom’s FireTV Stick? If this could be a problem … .

Thanks!

I would be tempted to adjust the Fritz repeater in the bedroom to a different location or swap it out with the child’s room one temporarily to see if it’s a hardware thing or a signal strength thing.

Either way I’d still try to get some log files to check.
Most times when you lower your streaming rate, it causes a transcode. Is that okay with you?
