I notice when I play audio tracks in music libraries in Plex that there are several problems:
Often when one track ends and the next track in the order starts it seems the first half of the first note is truncated. It mat be a fraction of a second, but it causes noticeable sonic errors.
Sometimes when one track ends and the next track in the order starts it seems as if 98% of that next track is skipped.
Does anyone have the same problems? This seems only to happen to music files, which are all FLACs. I have confirmed the “next” track is not truncated, because when I stop it and backtrack to the beginning of that track it is all there.
Not 100% sure about the cause of the first issue. Which Plex client are you using? If you’re not using Plexamp, you might have more luck there as it’s designed from the beginning to be a best-in-class music player, and may not suffer from the same hiccups.
Re. the second issue, it sounds like you’ve got the “store track progress” setting applied for the library in question. This preference is designed for longform audio like Audiobooks, not for music libraries, so turning it off should resolve this.
I am not familiar with Plexamp. I am experiencing this problem on a 4K TV for which I am sourcing the music through an external Roku Ultra device. It is a Sony TV, and I found the Plex app for Sony to be problematic as I would sputter and stall whenever I played high-res tracks. I am not sure whether I am getting similar truncated first notes on my TCL Roku TV, or on my iPad, or when I use the stereo directly connected to my media streamer PC.
But for sure it malfunctions on this Sony/Roku Ultra setup.
