Plex skips to near end of next song and back plays track just fine, why?

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 (has happened on various versions)
Player Version#: any

Hi there, this is something that has been occurring to me for some time now and I’m kind of at the end of the line because I simply cannot figure out why it’s happening.

My server runs Windows 10 (with ESU) but this is not limited to the current server or windows version, this used to happen on my old Windows 7 server as well on different versions of plex.

The client does not seem to matter either, be it the Windows plexamp client, LG WebOS client, game console, android (various versions) web (various browsers and PC’s and windows versions).

Many different file types, MP3 at different bitrates, FLAC, etc.

So that aside the issue is simply that plex/plexamp will play songs just fine, then other times it will skip to roughly 5 seconds near the end of the next track after the previous one finishes and hitting seek back starts the track as expected, this happens OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Honestly this makes plex for music basically unusable, can anyone help? I’m at the end of my rope trying to find a rhyme or reason on why this happens. It’s the most exhausting behaviour for something that’s supposed to be enjoyable (listening to music), my partner threw up her hands and simply won’t touch plexamp at all now.

Help!!

Edit your music library, go to the Advanced tab, disable “Store track progress”.

if that’s it it would be bizarre as it does this even on freshly added music.

trying it and will report back

i thought i searched well enough for this but am now seeing this bug has been present for years and years.

thanks @OttoKerner I have no faith it will be fixed but at least music is usable now.

What bug? It’s merely doing what you told it to do.
