Progress Bart acting weird

Hi,

Lately I've been experiencing some weird behaviour with the progress bar on ATV3 through PlexConnect.

When I start a movie I see the "play" icon and the long bar, but it doesn't show the length of the movie, and also not where in the movie I am currently at (position).  I also cannot use the down button on my ATV remote, so I can't skip chapters.

Has anyone experienced that?

I have restarted ATV, Plex Media Server, and installed the latest version of PlexConnect.

p.s. not Bart, Bar :P

If I understand it correctly - it's a known issue (of iOS?!?): Has something to do with your aTV subtitle setting. Or with Dolby-DD. There must be a number of threads covering that...

Yes it was an iOS issue.

Found a solution:  Reset ATV to factory settings :)

Yes it was an iOS issue.

If that were true, the problem would occur in the Netflix player and with the Apple TV movie player. But it doesn't. The problem only ever occurs in PlexConnect, so it has to be PlexConnect bug.

PlexConnect does not bring an own player. In general, it is only forwarding the PMS library links to the native aTV/iOS player.

There actually have been reports of this "white progress bar" creeping up in other circumstances. Netflix? Youtube? Airplay? Can't remember too well, but here is one comment:

As far as I can remember it started with iOS 6/6.0.2. Nothing was changed in PlexConnect in that regard. For sure, it is possible that we hit some incompatibility there... it's just the lack of documentation, that makes things really difficult to track down.

Lack of Apple documentation causing difficulties? That doesn't surprise me at all. I spent hours and hours (weeks!) troubleshooting a VPN server problem on OS X Server that turned out to be the result of improper and incomplete documentation by Apple.

I understand your frustration regarding poor documentation on Apple's part. But you and foobar have done amazing work to get PlexConnect working as we'll as it does. It's much appreciated.

Re: the white progress bar issue. I know that turning off subtitle language in the ATV settings fixes it but I've noticed that the setting gets re-enabled automatically even though I've disabled it. I don't know if PlexConnect is doing this or if it turns on and stays on if I manually select subtitles when I'm watching a video in Netflix or the ATV player.

This is still occuring regularly?

Is nobody else experiencing this? :(

if I see it, I stop the movie and start it again, and that usually helps....

Only certain video files have this.   And stopping and starting it again doesn't help :/

Yeah, I see this problem still, more often with MKV files.
