- Ran it and got a PHT-like interface, but def not my library nor even my skin
- Loaded a couple of plugins and tested them (TV timetable but it didn't know what shows I watch)
- Opened old PHT and saw nothing new...
- Perhaps this is supposed to replace my old PHT? But then do I have to set it all up again?
- Either way, I couldn't find a plugin to download subtitles :(
Yes, it's a complete replacement for the official PHT client ... it's best suited for advanced users who want to have more features and control, just poke around a little bit ... it's not that hard to benefit from the additional features once you spend some time with it.
All I really miss is the ability to say "get me a list of subtitles for this show I'm watching where the current subs are hopelessly out of sync" :)
This will be available in the next build (v0.3)
I have one question: Are you planning to do a Android build (.APK)? That would be the perfect Plex Client for the Fire TV :)
I don't think it's worth the work until PHT gets merged with Gotham/Helix. Frodo is just too sluggish on low-end hardware in general ...
Will focus on a working windows build in the next days. Happy testing!
That's great news !
I've downloaded the current v0.2 files for now, but since I use OSX and Ubuntu only in virtual machines, it's the Windows version I really look forward to.

I was testing a Frodo Build from SPMC on my FireTV and it was working great. Mean if we would have an APK of the Current PHT even without your enhancements, it would be way better then the current Plex Version on the FireTV, so maybe you may still consider this, then it would be really great :)
The goal of this project is to re-add useful XBMC features to PHT which has been removed by plex devs in the first place. In addition to that it will also contain community fixes (e.g. better mouse support) and other changes which you won't find in the default PHT client.
That's already done and will be available in the next version. I'm still experimenting with windows support which sadly still causes problems. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time right now to work on this project but I hope this will change in the upcoming weeks ...
Have used OpenPHT forever and ever now. One feature I would love to have is for OpenPHT to bee seen as a streamer for other plex apps. What I mean is when I use my phone or tablet I would like to be able to pick the show I would like to watch from it and set it to play on my Ubuntu box. This might already be a feature and I just dont know where the setting is or something.
Unfortunately, when I start it up it goes to the 'user' login page - automatically logged in, but needing to be selected and my PIN code entering....
Well, if you set a PIN on your master account it will always ask for it on startup, either remove the PIN or enable "Sign In on startup" via Preferences --> General which should skip the PIN dialog on startup.

You can already do that with the mobile PLEX app, just connect your app to OpenPHT like you would do with PHT. In addition to the plex app you can also use a 3rd party KODI app. For android devices I highly recommend "Yatse" which has a nice Remote/Information widget and options like "Pause on call", "Send App notification directly to OpenPHT" and Lockscreen Fanart/Controls ...
Both, the Plex app and Yatse will give you the option to "Share this video via" in video apps like youtube, so you can play your mobile content directly in OpenPHT.
Hey hey. I hope everything is well. I’m just poking around in hopes that this hasn’t been abandoned. With the recent forum outage and the trouble you were having previously with the windows build I honestly would nt blame you if this has been abandoned. But a man can dream.

Well, it’s not really abandoned but I re-assessed this project and came to the conclusion that it’s not worth spending even more time on the outdated PHT (Frodo) core. Instead I will try to start from the other side (KODI) and build something on top of it. It will be based on a slightly modified version of KODI / PleXBMC / Night v2.0 and Amber all in one package.
I will start working on this project as soon as I have finished Night v2.0

Sounds great that approach Can’t wait. Hopefully that Version can also be build then for Android as it is the case with Kodi now, so we can use your Version on our FireTVs and NexusPlayers
I’m already working on it but highest priority is still to release Night v2.0 because OpenPHT (and possiby confluence) will depend on this new skin code.
I can’t give an ETA yet but development should speed up once I’m done with night.

Great, thanks a lot for your work here Can’t wait to test it out
