Hello, I have an old mitsubishi dlp tv with component inputs. It supports 480i, 480p, and 1080i only. I have an hdfury. I have some tv shows on my plex, and when i try to play them back, some files play with no issues, but some files i'm getting audio only (no video). I never had this issue before and it just started recently. Any thoughts? is there anything i can change on my plex server to fix this?
wonder if it could be the ps4s build in hdcp protection kicking in on some files.
well none of my files have hdcp requirements, they're basically stripped videos, so i can't think of why hdcp would be a problem? plus, i'm running it through an hdfury, which is an hdcp stripper anyways. as far as the ps3 is concerned, everything is hdcp
There are a few people who have had this issue (and the Plex team are/have been investigating). As a workaround if you turn off DirectStream in Settings -> Video on your playstation you should find the issue disappears. unfortunately this will mean your PMS is likely transcoding (or working slightly harder before sending the video stream).
Had to do this on my PS3.

I was experiencing the same problem, for me it started when I updated to version 0.9.12.3. What I had to do to get it working was downgrade to version 0.9.12.2, seems to have fixed the problem, at least for me.
This same issue is happening to me. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40W600B television, a Playstation 3, and a Playstation 4 that I have tried to stream with. The television works great using the Plex app, however both of the playstations will play only audio, there is no video.
I have tried unchecking the "Allow Direct Stream" and "Allow Direct Play" but it didn't seem to have an affect.
Is there a setting I should try to change in PMS? (I am thinking no because it plays ok on my tv, but idk)
I would not mind at all if my PMS has to do all of the legwork, I just want to be able to stream with my PS3.
Anyone have any ideas?
I think you're going to need some Ninja or Dev help with this one. May be useful (and I am hopefuly pre-empting their request) to run through the steps and gathering info as shown in the "Buffering" thread. That may speed up the response to help solve your issue.

PCManDave,
Thank you for the advise. As I was preparing a sample video for submittal, one of their questions was:
- Are the problematic videos mostly MP4/M4V?
I looked at the type of files I was attempting to play. They were all .avi. I did find a couple that were .mp4, so I decided to try to play those. They played just fine. So I performed a convert on one of the AVIs to MP4 (using a program other than Plex) and that one played just fine.
Now I am in the process of converting all of my AVIs to MP4s.
Thank you for the help!
Disabling DirectStream worked fine for me for now. My network is enough fast for this temporary fix.
