Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and bought the Lifetime Plex Pass a few weeks ago. I have always used Popcorn Hours (C200’s and C300’s), but after building my own unraid server, running Plex, I decided to change to Plex.
I am running Plex on a PS3, UTP cabled cat5e, but when I want to play anything, it’s freezing up. I have read through countless others that have had this issue, but I didn’t really find any solutions to their problems.
I also have buffering issues on my Chromecast Google TV (it once gave a popup that speed from the server was insufficient, but that is very weird, as all is cabled through cat 5e and all switches, routers,… that are used are Gigaswiches. My home network is run on ASUS routers (AC5300 is the main, and to expand the wifi, I have one AC68u and two AC86u’s). I have a TP Link managed gigaswitch (T2600G-18TS (TL-SG3216) | JetStream 16-Port Gigabit L2 Managed Switch with 2 SFP Slots | TP-Link (but I have the 2.0 version)) and a Sitecom (Sitecom — LN-143B — 19” Network Giga Switch 24 Port).
What can I do to troubleshoot why I have these buffering issues? The Google TV is literally 1 meter away from the ASUS AC68u AP, the PS3 is wired by a cat 5e cable directly into the sitecom switch (which gets its signal from the TP link switch (about 10-20 meter of cat 5e), which is directly connected to the AC5300 with about 8-10 meters of cat5e).
To be clear - this is all playing internally on the same network - so not sure where the issue is…
When I attach a Raspberry Pi 4, running only Kodi on the same cat 5e cable, I have smooth running video playback with even larger file-size movies. I do not have movies that are more than 1080p, so no 4k playback at this moment. I can’t even get a 720p movie to play - very annoying to say the least… A free solution like Kodi is running amazingly well, but something I have paid for, does not even want to start to play.
Please let me know which other information would be helpful to share, so I can get that to you.
I usually start playback with Dutch subs, it is usually starting to play and then I see the three yellow dots and it freezes up everything. After 1-2 min, it goes back to the artpage of the selected movie. My PS3 is updated to the latest version too, both Wifi and UTP have the same issues, restarting the Playstation didn’t help either.
