Hi folks,
Since the last couple of updates I have had nothing but issues with the PS4 client. Here’s a rundown of my situation:
Every file buffers after a couple of minutes. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s transcoded or not.
Server has an i7 processor and 8GB of RAM and has a wired connection to the router.
I’ve tried both a wired and wireless connection to the PS4.
I have a Raspberry Pi running Rasplex: this works fine wired and wireless, even on 20GB+ mkvs.
As does the web client on my Macbook on a wireless connection.
A friend has a Amazon FireTV Stick: this plays videos fine from my server to their house.
If I try and browse my plex server via the built in PS4 media player app, videos that buffer in the Plex app play absolutely fine. So transcoding doesn’t seem to be an issue.
Any ideas? I’ve looked at other questions with similar answers and it generally seems to come down to the connection speed to the server or the server not having enough grunt to do the transcoding. Neither seem to apply here.
