I have always had trouble with the PS4 streaming videos from Plex, pre PlexPass and post PlexPass.
Tonight I was so frustrated trying to get this %*($ app to work. I followed all the steps. Read all the guides. Changed all the settings. Reconfigured my router...
NOTHING WORKED.
Until I found a STUPID setting. I am a PlexPass member. The only thing that kept my channels/videos is found under
Settings > Server > General > Update Channel > make sure you have PlexPass and not Stable selected.
What a stupid setting. I am a PlexPass member. Why does it have "Stable" over Plex Pass? I don't understand any of this, but it fixed all my problems instantly.
Just because you have a Plex Pass you may not want to get possible unstable automatic updates. Not all features of Plex Pass require the latest server versions. Though it doesn't make sense why that would effect playback on the PS4, assuming your server was already updated.
Just to be sure, was your server already up to version 9.11.1 or newer? If you were then that settings should not have mattered. and this issue needs be looked into.

I was not promoting an unstable build. if you look the option "update channel" is confusing. Changing it fixed my problem instantly. Nothing was downloaded, or had time to update. Within 5 seconds of changing from Stable to Plex Pass I was able to connect.
