I recently purchased a plex pass to stream movies from my iMac to my PS4 Plex App. The Plex app is a much nicer experience than using the browser on the ps4, so I decided to pitch in $5 a month for the Plex pass. I have 3 methods of streaming available to me (Apple TV 2, PS4 Plex App, and PS4 browser Plex). When I stream from the Plex App on my PS4, I will get an annoying background noise that does not occur when I'm using the Apple TV or the browser on the PS4.. which is making me think that it is a bug with the Plex App. This background noise does not occur all the time and I'm not too sure if its distortion or what...The video being used has AAC audio. I'm not too sure what other information is needed to sort this issue out.. but I might be best off just cancelling this plex pass and then go back to my Apple TV.
I don't have a PS4 myself so cannot try to reproduce. but giving the Media XML information and if you can a small sample file that also reproduces the issue would be good for the devs to see so they can figure out the problem. It also would be good to explain your set up; is the PS4 just direct HDMi to TV ?are you using a surround sound system? what are your sound settings in the PS4.
I am going to move this to the PS4 section of forums to those devs can see it , and possibly anyone else who might have the same issue can chime in with any additional details
i havet heard any background noise with plex on ps4, are you using any type of audio systems with optical out or anything like that.
