When using Movies & TV on PS4 I can’t get any sound to play but video is perfect. For example, watching Mr Bean has perfect video but no sound. When advertisements play, sound and video plays perfectly but any movie or tv show has no sound. I have tried 4 different PS4 systems and the same occurs. I play these same shows on apple TV, ipad or iphone and sound is perfect. Looks like the client is faulty on the PS4. Please fix.

Yeah, I did give you an example in my original post. The Mr Bean series does not play any sound on any episode under Movies & TV on Plex on PS4. The movie called “the Cabin” is another one. Yet series like “Thor: tales of asgard” does play sound.

Any update on this? I have had exactly the same problem for weeks now. Plex Movies & TV works fine on my mobile and laptop but no sound on PS4. My own movies, tv shows and music play fine on the PS4.

Ps4 connected to TV using HDMI only. Connected to the free online library. No local network content.
I changed the audio output settings on PS4 to each of those available, restarting Plex each time.
No audio on movies. Commercials audio plays just fine.
I’ll try whatever you say no matter how difficult. Looking for a solution.
This seems to be an ongoing issue I have the same problem which is a shame as this app would be great if it had audio.
I get audio for the ads but anything I watch has no audio. Tried selecting and un selecting dolby ac and changing video from direct streaming etc but there is no audio om sound city or the pink floyd thing I was trying to watch.
When will we be able to hear audio?
PS4, same for me, I was trying to watch The Ambassador s01e01 and no sound. I have seen this before quite often. The commercials usually have audio but the move or tv show does not. My own TV shows and movies play fine.
I switched to the web interface on my PC and the sound works there.
In the app you’ll click your username in the top right corner, go to Settings and then enable Dolby Digital (AC3) under Audio.
I have been experiencing the exact same issue. My wife was watching Australian Masterchef. We can get sound on the Chromecast and on the Android Apps, but not on the PS4.
I also have the AC3 Audio enabled.
Other movies I have no audio with on my PS4- Death Rides a Horse, Melancholia, The Great Buck Howard. There were more that had no sound but it looks like they’ve been removed from the service in a recent update.
Enabling Dolby Digital (AC3) makes no difference. The movies with no sound still have no sound.
It’s pointless to keep a streaming app where the main feature has no sound. From my PS4, Plex only allows sound for commercials and trailers, at least as far as I dug. Seemed pretty cool until my popcorn was popped and I was ready to watch the movie I picked. How inconsiderate! Anyway… came here, found out it’s not my problem as much as it is yours. Goodbye Plex.
Minor Panic!
I can see Led Zeppelin: Dazed & Confused, I can watch it, I can even turn the subtitles on (?!) but the stream is absolutely silent. Audio works just fine within Plex for my stored content and that of other attached hosts but everything from the Plex host is sans-audio.
In the settings:audio config, I have experimented with all combinations of Dolby and Dolby Digital Plus toggled off and on. no change regardless of those settings.
I concede that this content is provided to me at no charge so I am truthfully getting more than what I paid for, but if there is a way that I can watch and hear this documentary, I sure would love to do so. (the Pink Floyd doc looks pretty interesting too but not so much without audio)
Got the same problem for months! No audio from the Plex movies and tv shows. My own library works fine. Is Plex going to fix this?would really like to enjoy their selection.

Fixed PS4 audio issue for 1 episode out of a whole series.
I changed the streaming from 3.2mbit/sec 720p to 3mbit/sec 720p and suddenly audio was back. Checked the other episodes they play fine at original bitrate.
Strange.
None of the settings changes for AAC seemed relevant anymore that I’ve seen forums suggest. Basically did not end up changing anything else on plex server or client.
