after a month or so i decided to fire up plex on my ps4 to find that it gives me a code to put into the browser so i can no longer watch videos through the plex app on ps4 unless ive missed something, as before if i launched the app it would automatically open my plex server
any ideas

yeah i entered the pin but i can only watch the movies via the browser whereas before i could watch them via the app

a few months ago when i launched the plex app on ps4 the app would be the program,not just a code generator for the web browser
When you start the Plex app on the PS4 you need to follow the instructions and enter the PIN in a web browser.
After that you’ll see your content if your media server is online and available.
this is what im trying to explain there was never a need to go to the web browser before to view plex the app did it all
Are you entering the PIN on the PS4’s browser? You can do it on any browser, just let the app sit at the PIN screen, go to a browser like on a phone or PC, and the app will detect that you entered the PIN somewhere else and start.
I will say it’s been asking for my PIN a lot more recently, surprisingly twice in a row a couple days ago.
i understand about the pin i know how to use it my point is with the ps4 app you didn’t need a pin you could launch your plex from the app and not have to use the browser
