Plex just simply worst app I ever come across

New Smart TV, it has plex app built in.
Click plex app, get launch screen saying sign in or sign up, no active buttons other than !OK!
Press “OK” presents screen with 4 digit code, only option is exit
Go to web and create account.
Enter code, says you now linked
Back to Smart TV

yes used tv web browser to sign in
yes used tv web browser to insert codes
yes get different code every time click plex app
yes tried login in from pc also, didnt help any

no you cannot have plex and web browser running at same time, its a tv

Anyone have same issue and solved it?

The Plex is an app on the tv, I am guessing that there is no media server running unless I can get past the start code. I can see no other associated app for plex, but there is a web browser, from which i tried the Launch button to no noticeable effect so far.

You need to have a Plex server running on your network to use the app on your tv. Plex is a client server model.

Thank you both.
I’m downloading a plex for my pc.
I’ll set pc up as a server.
I have no network issues as I can launch vids from the pc using the simple media browse app.
I’ll then try again with pc server running.

I will post back in a few hours and let you know what happened, again ty for trying.

However, just cannot get past 4 digit code for tv app.
Even more galling is using simple media search app, Plex Media Server shows up.
Plex app just wont do anything other than persistently generate 4 digit codes, despite tv web browser saying successfully linked, completely useless application.

I suggest you try posting in the forum section for this app and explain exactly what’s happening, I’m assuming it’s not a Samsung TV, the forum section for the Smart TV app is here: https://forums.plex.tv/categories/plex-for-smart-tvs-non-samsung

Thank you, i’ll try there, dont like to be beaten especially if others got it working, tv is a Hisense K321, and this is only app that dosent work, yet.
