Morning,
I tried to access my Plex server from my Sisters PS4 web browser but it wont play the films. The PS4 can see the library I have given her access to and the films but when she goes to play the film it just sits there with a spinning circle.
If I access the library from a web browser on a laptop from her house it plays the films fine with no problems.
Is there a setting I need to change on the PS4 to allow the films to play?
Many thanks
Ray
Mine did this on both my PS3 and PS4 with not all, but a majority of videos regardless of container (mp4 or mkv). The problem went away when I upgraded the Plex server to some new hardware. Probably a coincidence but I didn't want to poke the sleeping bear.
You have plex pass, make her a plex.tv account (if she doesn't have one) and add her to plex home. Then she will be able to use the actual plex app and not worry about plex web.
The regular viewer in plex/web uses flash (which none of the consoles have), you can try to enable the experimental player under Settings -> Web -> Player and turn on the Experimental Player (note: if it's not visible it means your browser doesn't support all the HTML5 specs needed to use it).

I used to use Plex from the PS4's browser on a semi-regular basis before the app came out, should work okay after switching to the HTML5 player. Still won't work with music though.
Yah it's a stinker the PS4 doesn't support MP3. I can't figure out how that makes sense aside from the licensing costs.
