Ever since PS4 updated to 8.x; Plex is very slow, constantly buffer and Plex app crashes every 20 mins or so.
Think a hotfix is required.

Seeing similar… I’ve used PS4 and plex for years and it has always worked great. Plex updated too, and the new one is SO slow. The UI looks nice… but all of the sudden it loads everything so slowly. Please fix
Which PS4 do you have? I have the regular one and it loads up normally. Trying to reproduce crash the other poster mentioned.

Do you have specific settings when you say it’s working well ?
If you are asking me, I didn’t make any settings, changes everything is on default

I’m having the same problem on my PS4 Pro. App version 2.01. All the other Plex apps (Apple TV, Samsung TV, iOS, web interface) I use are fine, but the PS4 Pro is suddenly stuttering even if I reduce the bitrate considerably. I’m running the latest version of PMS on Linux. Transcoding speed is fine. Network speed is fine. The network switch between them has been rebooted. Plex app was deleted and reinstalled. PS4 Pro has been rebooted. Plex server system software has been updated and rebooted.
The only thing I believe changed before it stopped working was updating the PS4 Pro system software.
For anyone else having the problem, I haven’t solved it, but I’ve narrowed it down to a problem with the Plex client app for PS4 when subtitles are enabled. With subtitles enabled, I get regular buffering with any bitrate higher than 4 Mbps. With subtitles disabled, everything is fine at any bitrate regardless of direct stream or transcoding. So, for now, it works with subtitles disabled.
Nope, it’s not the subtitles… I mean the plex app on my ps4 is buffering and crashing extra much when I use subtitles so I stopped using them completely but it’s still behaves like that!
Tried going down to 4mb/s and that works for a while but then the app freaks out again by either buffering for ages, freezes up or just straight up crashes!
Been going lower than 4 but in the end it’s always the same end result… I’ve sent sooooooo many crash reports thru my ps4 that it’s not even funny any more!
I am actually starting to reconsider this whole streaming platform tbh
enable logging in the PS4 app and it will write it’s logs to your Plex Media Server.log which you can get from the troubleshooting section of server settings
