Friend is wondering why the plex app cant launch. Said they are only getting a black screen after launching the app.

Iām having issues on PS4 after the console updating this morning too. I get the Plex splash screen and then immediately get āAn error has occurred in the following application. (CE-34878-0) Plexā
Rebooted, no luck.
Deleted Plex, reinstalled and it ran. Relinked. Menu was going hideously slow so I shut Plex down, rebooted PS4. Now Iām back to Plex not running at all again.
Yeah it stopped working for me too. Brutal.
my plex died from the new update I cant even revert the firmware on ps4
I donāt see a spot on the support page for submitting a bug report. Is posting here, and reporting via PS4 itself, all we can do then? And speaking of, make sure you report it in the PS4 so it gets sent back to Plex.
I read that the PS4 version had been updated yesterday here but the version numbers are different (my latest on my console is ver. 2.05 while the version mentioned in the link is 5.69.0)
Additionally, when trying to update, it tells me that there are no new updates available.
Is this a delay on PSNās part? Is this new update making its way to them still?
The app from the store itself is rarely updated. The latest app changes mentioned in those release notes are loaded automatically when you restart the app.
Are folks still seeing issues with loading the app? Does restarting the console or re-installing the app help? Weāre looking into the issue.
@Moussa Restarting the console fixes it to be able to launch the app, but now heās saying there is a ānot enough disk space to convert this itemā error now when trying to play remote content. VoD works tho.
He just checked his storage and they have lots of free space

Restarting the console didnāt do anything. The problem started with the PS4 v11 update .
Launching the app would result in Plex logo, black screen, plex logo, PS4 crash report screen.
However, deleting and going from a fresh reinstall seemed to fix the issue for me. (although Iām not OP)
Edit: Scratch that. Itās still crashing.

Reinstall fixed me.
Does it continue to work after you reboot the PS4 once? It worked for me after reinstall then went back to crashing after I rebooted.

Actually, didnāt even have to reboot the PS4. Reinstall and it works fine. Close it and relaunch and crashes again.
Reinstall temporarily fixes. Going into sleep mode, restarting, or powering off the console and restarting the app leads to a crash eventually.
My steps to replicate:
- Delete PleX
- Install PleX
- Log in
- Use like normal
- Go into rest mode
- Awake from rest mode
- Use app like normal
- Try to interact with a few PleX UI elements several times ā Should crash here
The interaction may or may not be necessary. Iāll test it again without interacting with the UI.
Edit to add:
When I start PleX without my server running (i.e. just logged in to the client that should be able to access my server) the client is still unstable. Crashes nearly immediately in the previous test case I did. This time it crashed when the home screen was starting to load after the two splash screens.
Yesterday I unplugged my ps4 for like 5 mins and plugged back in didnāt work, today instantly crashed, I deleted it and reinstalled so it started up and was able to play a show for a bit but not sure how long it will work for
update: went on youtube for a bit and went back to Plex, crashed instantly again, thank god for old school UMS though its a great backup

We were finally going to buy the PlexPass on the day this happened since it was on sale but I suppose weāll have to wait to see if it gets fixed before the next time (Black friday / Cyber Monday maybe?)
Streaming through the android app to my chromecast in lieu of a working PS4 but this is still frustrating not having my console for server access.

My Plex app on PS4 started randomly crashing upon launching the app.
This started happening on the same day as the PS4 v11 OS update but the thing is, it was happening right before I installed the update, so I have my doubts if itās actually the OS update that took it down.
Plex is the most used app on my PS4 and now it doesnāt work. Please look into this, Plex devs.

Was able to close Plex, do something else, and relaunch it today and watch something without it crashing.
Not me. Plex still broken.
Man, am I ever glad we dragged our heels on that Plex Pass.
