Player Version#: (Unknown, not my console)
I’ve tried with multiple different movies, and non-HDR stuff plays flawlessly, no complaints there. But any time I try to play something HDR, it’ll warn me that colors will be distorted because it’s a non-HDR display, and at best it’ll display one frame before the the screen is just black with a couple purple triangles stuck on it. Sometimes I can bring up the playstation menu in the split second right after it does this, but then it hard crashes and the only way to stop it is to hold the power button on the console until it shuts down.
Plex server is a docker container running on TrueNAS scale
Can’t exactly get an error code from the console as it hard crashes the whole system. It LOOKS like GPU artifacting, but the few times I’ve gotten it up, the playstation menu draws fine over it, and the console regularly runs AAA games, so I don’t think it’s a GPU problem.
Some conflating factors that I might be looking at incorrectly:
All of my HDR content is also 4K, so I’m not sure if it’s just one or the other.
Dolby Vision doesn’t seem to matter, it crashes all the same
All of my 4K content is HEVC-encoded
