publish server via IPv6

For those of you on webpass, and likely others, I’ve been able to get everything working. The solution isn’t free (I used a linode instance for $10/mo), but it works flawlessly. If anyone is interested, I can whip up some step-by-step instructions.

Yes someone help me. I am on ipv6 webpass in San Diego and cannot access my plex server remotely. This is rather frustrating to say the least.

I put together some high level documentation on how I got this working. I’ll answer as many questions as I can but I make no guarantees on how quickly I will respond.

Also, this is not something for a beginner or someone that doesn’t have experience with Linux and modifying settings on your home router. Please understand that your network may be different and this will require some tweaking. I’m providing it merely as a guideline to hopefully help you successfully access Plex from outside your network.

I can confirm this works pretty well on webpass (Im in San Francisco). The only change I had to make was to install DD-WRT firmware on my tplink router to enable me to get a global IPV6 address. There was no real option to forward ipv6 traffic with the stock firmware.

At one point you call out a need to for the subdomain. I don’t have anything that is called that in the xml linked in your description. Any idea?

Wettybrestside can you confirm if this only allows web browser access, or will devices and apps (like apple tv, iOS app, etc) be able to connect?

Hi, even though I am logged in, I cannot see my sub-domain, any other way to retrieve it but your link?

This plugin does it:

Damn… I was hoping there would be some way without using a proxy. Does this proxy just help with resolution of destination or does it actually proxy all traffic?

I also just jumped onto webpass and got c**kblocked by their ipv4 policy.

There’s no way for this to happen without a proxy without Plex itself supporting it. And supporting it is not as easy as it sounds, their current mechanism that supports secure connections has to be redesigned for usage with IPv6.

Is this still working for you? I tried it but it’s not working. I can reach my plex server and login but the server is still unavailable

BTW i got this working with my digital ocean droplet. Works just fine!

If you’re using such a Proxy solution, make sure you have unlimited traffic set up with your provider

So, in order for me to be able to access Plex out of network, I’ve had to dsiable IPv6 withing my router’s settings. Thereafter, I had enable port forwarding for 32400 in my router’s settings as well. Thereafter, I rebooted the modem, router and my UnRaid server. I was able to access Plex out of network thereafter.

inglês: I know the posts here are old from 2013 and 2014 and I’m wanting to sign the premium plex … just found out that they are not accessible with ipv6. so I’ll wait for them to be active via ipv6, since I just tested the site and it is inactive via ipv6. https://app.plex.tv just test here http://validador.ipv6.br. when it passes the ipv6 validator I’ll sign. so I’m sure it will work.
