I've just upgraded to PMS 0.9.8.12 with OS X 10.9
Today, I noticed when i play with transcoding 1080p .mp4 file @40mbps or lower (didn't matter) the image was pulsating with blurriness, very apparent when the image is still and showing nice small quality pictures.
So i tried Direct Play, no pulsating, neither lower quality image, and changed back to transcoding which was still pulsating with blurriness.
Also tried to restart PMS -same problem
It's working when I play on PHT, only apparent on Plexconnect
I attached a sample from the plexconnect log
Anyone else got this problem?

sounds like you should bring that up in the relevant PMS section...

The thing is that when I play on PHT at my Laptop there is no blurriness or pulsating, it works fine.
I want to transcode to be able to watch with subtitles when using my Apple TV.
I got firmware 5.3 on my apple TV. I'm gonna update it as we speek.
But maybe it's still PMS related. I'll post there. thx

With transcoding? PHT should be capable of doing a lot more filetypes natively.

Hmmm, I set Local Video Quality 20Mbps in Preferences>Media Server.
Thought that meant it was transcoding? So I shouldn't need to do that? (just want it to work with subtitles)

Only if your file has actually a higher bitrate than that - assuming can be played natively.
If you need to force transcoding, set Transcoder Action to "Transcode"...
Is this about blurry-ness or subtitles?

I did just update to the latest Plexconnect (Nice work with the trailers btw!)
The issue is still about the bad quality (pulsating with blurriness) didn't help with an Apple Tv update to 6.01 neither latest Plexconnect

>> didn't help
Well, I wouldn't have thought so. Transcoding is done by PMS, no PlexConnect involved - other than asking for it.
