With latest pms server on a i5 3570k server my movies look bad. They are avi and mkv files. I have subtitles enabled. Any know of latest plexpass version has solved quality issues with that of have any advise for me in setup to resolve this??
Increase the transcoder level in settings.
Tried 1080p 8 and 1080p 20. Looks good with h264 mkv. Not as good as on a Dune player but avi files with subtitles, looking “blurred”.
Are you running v0.1? If not try upgrading.
It should let you select 40 meg.
Hello i have similar problem. I am with the latest version of plex connect. I was using airplay trough my ipad to watch movies on 20/mbits till now. Now with plexconnect on 40mbits my video is not better than 20mbit on airplay. I tried the settings and set everything to max(40mbit/1080p) on my plexconnect but still worse than airplay(which is 20mbit). WHy is that?
Tried all settings too. Cant figure out why its so blurred plicture.

"Latest" is not a version number and can be meaningless, especially when code changes are taking place multiple times a day.
Please read the stick on how to report a problem and provide the requested information (the picture should be crystal clear but there is something in your setup that is causing it not to be).
My version is the lastest - PlexConnect-0.1-iOS-pre5.1!!! And i`m 100% sure its plex problem not in my settings! But anyway, at least its a great progress and its still worthy!

Also it will not necessarily improve from Airplay quality, if e.g. the file is a 15mbit file to start with you cannot make it look better as it will be natively played by both.
So you mean that with airplay is normally to be with better video quality?
- you are running the latest point release BUT NOT the latest code!! This is exactly the reason I put the comment about version number
- airplay is neither better or worse quality, you may want to read up on how it works
- you have not bothered to give any, let alone all, of the information requested so I cannot help you
Ok, may be you are right about the latest code, but i found that latest version on wiki. I didn`t find a link from the official plexapp site to download it, so may be i am wrong. The problem about the quality is because when i am using something i like to be perfect. Actually the quality isnt bad at all, i said it isn`t just like the airplay. I was standing next to the TV and switching between airplay and PlexConnect, thats why i found it. May be its like 2 or 10 mbits difference but its still exist. Anyway thank you for your time and the great app that you created. I will check for newer versions and may be my problem will be solve in the future ;)
Have you tried playing about with the Apple video settings?
I am not sure why it should be different on AirPlay or why subtitles should be blurry.
My Apple tv 3 settings are: 1080p 60hz. There is nothing else on apple tv video settings to adjust. On PlexConnect is 1080p 40mbit and both other options are False. I tried Force transcode on true but i didnt find anything to change. If there is something else i should check tell me pls.

I am not sure that i understand you, but if you mean that i am playing different movies with different resolution and etc you are not right.Actually i was trying the differences on the same File(movie) at the same min and second of the movie and switching between airplay and plexconnect just to be sure that i am right! Actually i found something strange, when i select 20mbit and play the movie at the same spot, the video quality isnt changing at all. May be there is something wrong with me.....
