With the latest Movie Agent you have disabled Python calls meaning all plug-ins are disabled. This essentially disables the best ever companion to Plex (and the one that have contributed the most to Plex success for free) Sub-Zero.
Sub-Zero made subtitles with Plex “just work”, it have always been that good and I can’t believe you don’t value this contribution (by @panni) higher.
I say you either implement Sub-Zero into Plex or you hire panni, or both. But you can’t just exclude such a function as the best subtitle-plugin there is, and have ever been, for Plex.

(Moderator: This doesn’t belong in “Third Party” category as i believe this is a much bigger issue primarily in regards to subtitles.)
Honestly having subtitles working as well as they did with Sub-Zero was one of the main reasons I was using Plex, without this I am unsure whether I will even keep it.
Why on earth did you exclude your MVP (most valuable plugin)? Subzero was key in ensuring non-english speakers like myself could watch great content with very little hassle. Pleas either include in Plex or give us a way to get our favorite MVP back!
I understand the redesign being made on agents, yet supporting 3rd party agents to provide additional information is a must. Unfortunately OpenSubtitles is not enough specially for non English speakers. I hope some kind of middle ground can be found and allow Panni to continue delivering his amazing plug-in. Otherwise, we really need a long term solution.
I came on here only because I was annoyed yet again on how subtitles are handled, and to see if there was a suggestion on how to fix it. I notice there isn’t. I also loved sub-zero.
My main languages for subtitles are English and Swedish. It would be great if I could limit the search function to only show a limited set of languages to choose from. In all honesty I am not at all interested in any subtitles in any other language than Swedish and/or English. I guess the same applies to pretty much all non-swedes regarding Swedish. Yet the loading of the selection drop box takes literally forever, as it needs to load what feels like a billion languages I’m not interested in.
All of the above used to work flawlessly with sub-zero by the way, and I very rarely had to go in and manually assign a subtitle file to a movie file. These days I have to do with any and all movie files (we have kids). It also means that my automated downloads aren’t fully as useful as I need to be around to load the correct subtitles. Previously it “just worked”, even if I wasn’t at home.
Anyways: bring back support for sub-zero, and if that takes time, enable a “preferred selection” of languages for the search-for-subtitle-dropdown. I doubt many people truly are interested in more than 5 languages for their subtitles (though I have no doubt there are exceptions to my statement/preference).
Agreed!
With the new scanner/agent automatic movie subtitles are back to being a big issue. And it’s a absolute must for me, otherwise I’ll be forced to abandon Plex.
Please open up for plug-ins like Sub-Zero to work, or implement similar features in the movie agent.
Until then, I’m switching back to the legacy scanner/agent.
Plex keeps junking the features I love and use(d). First PHT (please do NOT comment I can use the ■■■■■■ media player, it SUCKS and is not an acceptable replacement), and now Plugins, specifically Sub-Zero. Bring it back!
