Qnap - Memory Leak - QTS or PMS?

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
QNAP TVS-471 upgraded to i7 4790s with 16GB Ram

Since updating to latest PMS version resource monitor for my QNAP has started reporting memory usage gradually rising until it maxes out. Usually sits at 16% when not streaming anything. Now this gradually builds up over approx 72 hours, even when not using Plex, until it hits the 90% mark and I start getting warnings. When I check what processes are using it all Plex is top of the list with several GB’s. A quick stop and start of PMS restores it to normal with Plex now using around 200mb mark and it starts over again.

Have seen several reports of latest QTS beta causing all sorts of problems with Plex.

What info is needed to determine whats going on? Should I just rollback to earlier versions of QTS and PMS?

I’m getting this too.

QTS: 4.4.1.1117
Plex: 1.18.2.2058

Settings - Server - DLNA

Turn it off if it’s on and you’re not using DLNA.

DLNA is a known leak.

Thanks, that is already off.

It’s a new issue, have been running Plex on QNAP for a couple of years.

I will start keeping my eye on it.
If you’re able to pin down if it’s transcoder related, that would help a great deal.

Is there any logs you need or logging you’d like me to do?

There is nothing reported in the logs about memory utilization.
The best anyone can hope to do is track whether or not movies are “DirectPlay”, “DirectStream” or a f ull “Transcode”.

There was once a leak in the EAE audio codec but that has long since been fixed.

I’m getting this too.

First and Foremost, is DLNA turned off? it’s a known leak which Engineering can’t find.

It’s off check below screenshot;

Do you have any ideas about which media & codecs you were using since last restart?

H.264 ? MPEG2 ?

EAC / 5.1 / 7.1 / TrueHD ?

If this can be pinned down a little bit, I can start running tests but need something to go on so if you can help, that will be very helpful.

Indeed, I do believe my kids were playing a movie with the formats shown below;

And this when NAS became unresponsive and RAM was eaten by PMS.

Any updates :roll_eyes:
