QNAP - No access to Media Server 1.25.5 after reinstall - Please Help

QNAP
Server Version#:1.25.5
Player Version#:

Hello, newbie here! Also german mother tongue, so thanks for being lenient with my language.

Had the same difficulties to access 1.23.4, so i followed the procedure to instal 1.25.5 manually. I also was patient to wait for the db-upgrade overnight, all as described in this thread.

Next day i opened the interface, but still couldn’t connect to the server (didn’t show up in devices section [Zugelassene Geräte ]. In a fit of overconfidence i removed 1.25.5 in the App-Center and reinstalled 1.23.4 there. Result: local.host/32400/web showed my user, but when trying to connect i got a no access to server error [Keine Berechtigung - Du hast für diesen Server keine Zugriffsberechtigung.]

So i removed 1.23.5 restarted the system and got back to 1.25.5. Same situation. Funny thing though: i could ad a new (non-admin) user, log in to the dashboard and change to the main user there. But still no Media Server in the devices section.

Heres the Log Files Plex Media Server Logs.txt.zip (14.1 KB)

Here’s what local.host:32400/identity brings back: <MediaContainer size="0" claimed="0" machineIdentifier="d9ee0b98a65bae0ea9ff9647505aea85b36cd1a9" version="1.25.5.5492-12f6b8c83"></MediaContainer>

Im happy if someone can direct me what to do. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi there @phswien

First of all, never remove PMS from a QNAP, since that’ll also remove all databases and metadata

Secondly, the identity endpoint shows, that the server is not claimed by you, and sadly the logs you provided was not PMS logs but Web Client logs

So a small question for you…

What IP is your QNAP and your Mac running?
As in:

  • Are they on the same IP Net ?
  • Are they both running in Private Address Space ?
    • (Does their IP starts with 10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x or 172.16.x.x => 172.32.x.x)

Hi dane22!

Thanks for getting back to me. Looks as if i could use some serious advice.

Qnap is 192.168.0.4 and my mac is 192.168.0.3, both in a private address space provided by a rooter and forwarded partially by an unmanaged switch.

Since on the same IP Net, then it should have asked you to claim it, and doesn’t :frowning:

So step one is to try another browser, and if that also fails, we need PMS Logs

Hi @dane22! Used another browser than Safari and got a pup-up to claim the server. Thanks for your help, i’m very grateful!
Best, Philipp
