QNAP - No Loudness analysis on music on 1.20.2.3343

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3343

Hi everyone,

I’ve run into a problem with the latest version of PMS (PlexMediaServer-1.20.2.3343-c91f25744-x86_64.qpkg). Any new music that I add doesn’t have loudness analysis triggered anymore. Yes, my settings (which have been fine for 2 years now) include automatic analysis of music when added to the library.

I’ve also tried restarting PMS multiple times and manually triggering at the album level to generate the loudness data, but it isn’t triggering. Usually you can see the transcoder in the console triggering the job when it is successfully going, but nothing works. I even between yesterday and today triggered a full music archive analysis, but nothing happened.

This only has happened after updating to the latest PMS. Is it possible to rollback or is there a solution to force the analysis of music files? All added files are in FLAC except for a couple albums that are in mp3 format. Nothing weird or otherwise.

Thanks for any assistance!

I’ve further done some more analysis of the deep analysis logs and can see after adding/removing items (album, etc), it starts the deep analysis scan and it is making calculations for loudness in existing tracks, but nothing at all related to the newly added tracks. I’m at a loss as to why it won’t scan the new albums I’ve added.

The transcoder in 1.20.2 beta is broken.

The problem was diagnosed thursday night and Engineering has been working on it.

For now, please stay with the public release

I have re-downloaded the public release and reinstalled it, however this did not solve the problem. Is there another version I can install that you can recommend?

No.

If Public doesn’t work then something else local has changed.

DEBUG log files showing the activity will be needed.

Sure, which specific log files can I supply?

  1. Verify the logging settings
  2. Recreate the problem with a specific / minimal number of files
  3. Download the ZIP
  4. Attach it.

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-09-26_18-36-33.zip (7.0 MB)

Recreated it as best as I could (confirmed in the logs directly that nothing was being analyzed or attached). This should help.

Thanks.

What should I see / not see ?

I’ve added a digital copy of the new Deftones Ohms album. You should be able to see it in the logs that it is being analyzed and set up, however nothing is analyzed.

The Transcoder performs the analysis.
In 1.20.2, which you are still using, is broken.

What is a workaround for this? Is it possible to provide a version to downgrade to?

There is no “workaround” for a broken Beta transcoder.

Kindly download the Public release 1.20.1 and install it.

I can only see 1.20.2 in the downloads publicly…

See the Plex Pass Downloads button?

Turn it OFF

I just noticed that and I can get the August 27th version. Thanks! I’ll try it out and see if anything improves.

Ok, after downgrading, I don’t really notice any difference. None of the albums I’ve selected are being processed with loudness calculations. The logs report the same.

I’ve even restarted Plex a couple times and did a manual trigger of exactly 1 album to see what happens. Same result.

I’ve shut down PMS and reinstalled the 1.20.1 version and turned it back on again. No change. Same result as before. What else can I do?

I’ve restarted the server and tried again, no luck unfortunately :frowning:

The last update seems to have stopped all transcoding from happening.

Please take the album,
Move it to an unmonitored area
Scan Files
Empty Trash
Clean Bundles
Move it back.

Now, when PMS sees it, it will perform it’s analysis.
It might still not perform loudness until scheduled maintenance (dependent on your settings).n I believe, by default, it does wait until maintenance to perform loudness due to the server load imposed on those smaller NAS platforms.

Now download and attach a DEBUG ZIP file set of logs.

I need to see what’s happening.

Done! I went a bit adventurous and added like… 15 albums (removed, cleared bundles, emptied trash, re-added back) and still, nothing is done. Here are the logs. Hopefully they help.

Thanks!
