QNAP TS809-U - Cant be upgraded with latest Plex software

My server cannot be upgraded past QTS 4.2
The latest version of Plex syas only works with QTS 4.3
So my server is now redundant, but is working fine.
Am I being forced to spend $1000 to get a new server.
Apps and web now have issues displaying which can be fixed by going direct access.
Maybe i flatten the server and convert to linux?
Some advice appreciated.

I hope someone has a solution to this as well. Even though it is more than a dozen years old, it is a rock solid platform.

I have exactly the same problem with my TS-859 pro+.
Plex ask me to upgrade and no way to upgrade with 4.2.6 version of QS.

Please Qnap and Plex, talk to each other!

I am sorry

It’s precisely because of its age it can’t host PMS. It does not have the CPU power.

  1. Intel D525 CPU does not meet the computational speed requirements established several years ago of 700 Passmarks. It produces 481 .
  1. QNAP ordered the EOL on all 32 bit processors. It doesn’t have the required runtime libraries which come with 4.3.0 of QTS. QTS is now at 4.5.1.

Plex’s Engineering realized back in 1.13.x & 1.14.x days they needed to update. They selected 2.14.1, released October 7, 2011, as the absolute minimum they need.

As you can see, even Plex isn’t using the latest & greatest libraries (which it could & should) and, in spite of that, the QNAP’s software is still too old.

I am sorry, but it’s time. Let that unit be the good NAS it is and host PMS on a platform capable of running it properly. You will be happier in the end.

I’ve got a TS809 what would you upgrade too. Do not need 8 bays anymore.

Cheers

Julian
