Can't get my QNAP server to update to the new Plex

Server Version#: TS-559-PROII
Player Version#: 1.9.6.4429

I am unable to get the new Plex update to work on my server. QNAP told me that my QNAP server, TS-559-PROII firmware: 4.2.6 build 20200421, is a legacy model and they couldn’t get the update for Plex to work either. Because of this, I can’t see my movie library on my phone or on the Plex app. Please help!!

can you manually upgrade the Plex Media Server on your QNAP? (using the package you can download from the plex.tv download page)
https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/

Last week, we tried to manually download the updates and it wouldn’t work. I attached the screen capture from my QNAP server that shows the errors

If i may jump in?

Per QNAP direction,

# Minimum QTS version requirement
QTS_MINI_VERSION="4.3.0"
# Maximum QTS version requirement
QTS_MAX_VERSION="4.9.9"

this is my Current firmware version: 4.2.6
This is the most current firmware that is available for my model

I understand.

If you would please review:

you will find the model is not listed. It has been discontinued / dropped – per QNAP instructions when they discontinued support.

In that case you’ll be limited to crossing your fingers, Plex is coming up with a fix, re-enabling the current iOS/tvOS players to work with older versions of Plex Media Server…
… and to disable automatic updates for those clients (good practice if you can no longer update your PMS due to OS restrictions).

ahh. ok. any idea of how long it will be before that happens? and what will happen to the mobile app?

sorry… no official word or confirmation.

thank you

Plex have just released a hot fix to their clients for iOS and Apple TV that should address this issue.

OMG! Thank you!! it all works now with this new update. thank you for letting me know. what a relief

Hello My name is Inês , I have QNAP T- 639 pro , but it’s not listed on the compatibility list , do know , if it will be a update soon for her ?

QNAP discontinued the NAS.

I presume you are at QTS 4.2.x and a 32 bit Atom CPU ?

hey Chuck, I’ve got that running on an a nice old 459 Pro 2. wondered if there’s any hope for me? My TV is a TLC smart TV, so not one of them mentioned models. I can always host the server off of the qnap if I need to, but I haven’t been able to even test how the speeds are from the device.

No… QNAP discontinued and locked QTS version at 4.2
They then instructed us to set the min QTS version requirement to QTS 4.3

I think it’s fair, however unfortunate, to say that QNAP is done supporting the unit.
Whatever it is, it is.

All 32 bit systems from QNAP are “DC” status.
