Hello. My QNAP is up to date (I believe), but I’m unable to access anything. I can see all files on the QNAP through Plex (on server) but when I open the plex media server through chrome, there is an error triangle next to all the folders and I’m being told this "Update your Plex Media Server
The server QNAP is out of date and cannot be used. This version of Plex Web requires Plex Media Server 1.18.3 or higher.
Have you already checked what version of PMS you’re actually running on your QNAP?
Settings > [Server Name] > General (not Settings > Plex Web > General!!).
Hi Tom. Thank you for the response. Yes, when I hover my mouse over the PMS icon in the QNAP App Center, it reads ‘1.96.4429’. That should be the newest, correct?
Can you please check the release information from within the Plex web app?
The latest public release is version 1.31.2.6810.
If the build number of yours (last set of digits → 4429) is some indication of the actual release, your server hasn’t been updated in almost 2 years… but the version itself doesn’t look familiar.
I’m not sure how to check that. I’m a bit confused between the Plex Web App and the Plex Media Server App. The app.plex.tv says Version 4.103.2.
If the latest version of the Plex Web app is 1.31.2.6810, I’m definitely looking at the wrong app. Sorry, quite a newbie here.
If you open the web app, there’s 3 main sections in Settings:
-
Accountsettings -
Plex Websettings - Server specific settings (listing your server name; if you have multiple servers, there’s a dropdown to select which server’s settings you want to manage)
In the server settings (Settings > [Server Name]) you’ll find a General page that lists e.g. what version of PMS you have installed.
The information you’ve shared is from the General page of section #2 (Plex Web).
Solved!! Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it.
