Okay, this might be a nooby question, but here is my use case:
I have multiple libraries each for Movies, TV Shows and Audiobooks (eg. Movies - Favorite; Movies - Kids; Movies - All). With my setup, individual media entries appear in more than one library (sometimes more than two). My wife’s profile only sees the “Favorite” and “Kids” libraries.
I have noticed that with “Include in Dashboard” checked in all of my libraries, an entry will show up in On Deck (et al.) multiple times. So my solution is to have “Include in Dashboard” unchecked in every library except the “- All” libraries so items only appear in my profile’s dashboard once. However, this causes my wife’s dashboard to basically be barren. What do you guys recommend I do about this?
Also, as a separate question, does “Now Playing” or Watched Status match between libraries? Like, if I watch Finding Nemo from the “Movies - All” library, will the “Movies - Kids” library also remember where I left off on the same film (which accesses the same files) or whether it’s already Watched?

I can’t think of any work-around for your situation, except to change to sharing using labels instead of by libraries.

The watched status is tracked by the way the movie is matched. If you have the same movie in multiple libraries all matched with the same agent, then they all get the same progress, so you can continue from either library.

That would work for the “Favorites” libraries, but I like the simplicity of having “Kids” libraries because, on my Roku, all I have to do is click on “TV Shows - Kids” to find the shows my daughter (who is 2yo and doesn’t have her own User profile) can watch. Selecting a desired Label on Plex isn’t entirely obvious, and on Plex for Roku it isn’t convenient. Having “Kids” libraries especially makes navigating to them super simple.
I might suggest Plex looking into having the On Deck entries also tied to an Agent, so that identical entries across libraries don’t appear duplicated.
OR, I might suggest having separate “Include in Dashboard” settings for each Managed User.
or both. Either solution would, I think, solve my problem.
I actually meant putting all your movies in 1 library, then applying the “kids” label to those movies. Then in the sharing rules, that account can only see the “kids” label.
Edit - The same could be done for TV Shows.

I understand what you meant. The thing is, and especially on Plex for Roku, switching labels isn’t obvious and it is several menu navigation clicks down. Even on my Android phone, “Kids” is buried under “Labels” which is at the bottom of the submenu.
Having a separate library is easy to find, easy to click, and really straightforward.
If my wife wants NCIS on a different screen than Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, switching labels from one to the other isn’t the optimal way to navigate between them.
This would seem to be an issue that could happen rather commonly.
Make a kids account. Since this kid user would only see movies with that label, going into the library would only show them those items. You wouldn’t need to filter anything.
It is an unusual case to have sub-libraries.
i.e. “Movie - All” and then “Movie - Kids”. Typical usage I’ve seen would be “Movie - Kids” and “Movie - Adults” and then access to both libraries to get all.

Okay, I’ve done this. Seems to be working rather well. I initially felt like switching users in Plex for Roku would be annoying (given that it automatically logs in the previous user) but it’s really not. The menu is just up in the corner in what looks like it should be an awkward place to navigate to but isn’t really once you get used to it.

Is it? That would seem a subjective choice. Perhaps it is unusual because people encounter the problems I encountered.
