On Deck question.

My Mum has a Plex user that I have added as a friend and given her access to my media. She doesn’t want to see all my Tv Shows as that overwhelms her when she logs on. So what I have done is setup a library called ‘Mums TV’ and just pointed this at the shows she is interested in. From her point of view this works great.
For me whenever I add a new TV episode that is in both the main TV library and my Mums it shows up twice in ‘Recently Added Television’. I can stop this by editing ‘Mums TV’ library and unchecking ‘Include in Dashboard’ that works great for me but then my Mum loses her Dashboard so no longer has an ‘On Deck’ so she has to go into the Tv Show she wants to watch then the Season and the click on the next unwatched episode.
This seems wrong to me somehow, am I doing something wrong, if not is there a work round or something.

I hope I’m making sense, any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I do understand what you are saying. I too saw this after unchecking Include in Dashboard. I actually fixed most of my issue by setting my Weeks to consider for On Deck. I changed it to 52 weeks.
Mind you I still don’t get Recently Added on my Roku BUT at least any show I was watching will show up on my On Deck months later(when new episodes are available).
That way your mom can resume a show that hasn’t aired in a few months.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply NewPlaza. I already have ‘Weeks to consider On Deck’ set to 52. If I uncheck ‘Include in Dashboard’ for a specific library on the server then ‘On Deck’ & ‘Recently Added’ doesn’t show up on any device.
I assumed that by unchecking ‘Include in Dashboard’ it would apply to my server and not every user from every device. My Mum watches content from an Amazon Fire Stick, a Raspberry Pi & a Samsung TV (using built in App).
It is actually more annoying than I originally put above. I have 26 friends using my server so when popular content gets added that they all watch it appears in my ‘Recently Added Television’ 27 times.

Instead of making a separate library, why not add a label called “MomTV” or some such to the items you want her to view in your main tv show library. Then in sharing options for her user you can restrict the content to that label.

This would remove any of the extra issues you would be having with the extra library and ease the management I’m guessing as well. Hopefully that helps.

Hi adamskoog, Thanks for reply. That appears to work perfect. I didn’t know about the Labels. Is there a way of doing that on a ‘Season’ basis rather than a ‘TV Show’.

I would have mums library for mum .
That would be the only copies of those shows.

And in your general library point to mums libray and also to the rest !!

spikemixture thanks for your reply. I do that for the Movies she asks for. I have a top level Movies Folder that I point my library at and within that folder I have a Mums Movies folder that I point Mums Movies library at and it works fine. When she has watched a movie I manually copy it from ‘Mums Movies’ into the ‘Movies Folder’ I still see it she no longer sees it. With the TV series I use ‘SickRage’ to download, rename and copy to correct location. I don’t know if I can say put this in Mums TV put that in General TV within SickRage. Also once she has watched something she wants it gone so again would have to copy from Mums TV to General TV, that’s a lot of copying for some of the programs 24, Bones, Law & Order SVU etc whereas adamskoog solution means I just remove the label so I think I will go that way.

Again thanks for replying and trying to help it was much appreciated.

No, it’s only at the show level.
