Question about managing new 'collections' feature.

Hey all,

Really excited about the new collections feature but I feel like I might be missing something.

I’ve gone through and created a few collections by adding the tag in the edit to the movies I want to add. Is there a way to view all your collections like how you would your movies or tv shows in your library? The only way i seem to be able to find them is by searching the tag word and then selecting it from the search list or sorting my library by “collections” which just lets me choose out of a drop down list.

It seemed from the news article that you can also edit the collections page to add a custom thumbnail etc, but I can’t ever seem to get to that page or find a way to edit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

As far as editing the collection page, you have to be using a client that supports the new feature. I believe that would be the web client from the main page. PMP doesn’t support it yet, so it won’t show up.

Yes.
Currently, you must be using the ‘hosted’ web app for this to work:
http://plex.tv/web

All ‘video’ libraries support the new Collections view mode:

Use the above view mode to customize your collections.

You can also edit your video library(s) so collections are shown inline with your other items:

Right now, on a PC, you have to use the hosted web app (app.plex.tv) to see collections. Please review this thread for collection use:

Hi,
I am having the same issue. I am using the “Hosted” Web app. The Drop down does not show Collections, It only shows movie and folders. I also noticed that the News feature stated that the Plex Media Server needs to be at least version 1.11.0.4666. I am on version1.10.1.4602 , which may be the issue but it says I am up to date. Any ideas?

1.11 is a beta version. Plex does not offer you beta versions to install unless you explicitly tell it so.
Settings - Server - General - ‘Show Advanced’ - “Update Channel” = Beta
