Bought a DVD of “Hellfighters” yesterday at a garage sale.
Ripped using MakeMKV and Handbrake. The rip came out with a black border around the whole movie… see pic:
(Is that play arrow in the center of the picture something new? I don’t do screen-captures much, but I don’t remember seeing it last time I did one)
I am guessing that this is an older, pre-“enhanced for 16:9 tvs” disc that is letterboxed this way to display correctly on old 4:3 ratio boob-tubes (based on what little google-ing i did on it). It didn’t come with the case, so I can’t look to see if it says it’s enhanced.
What settings would I change on Handbrake to correct this and would it even be worth it (guessing that the resolution will suffer quite a bit from the cropping).
I also have a Sonny Chiba “Street Fighter” DVD that does the same thing.
