Question regarding the Plex Movies & TV Store (renting vs buying)

I know currently renting movies is the only available option, however I remember reading that TV shows and Movies are also going to be available to buy in the future?

Will it be possible to purchase Movies and TV shows directly from the Plex store, then download and store them for use on our main media servers? Similar to how Kaleidascape does things? Maybe tie the DRM to Plex Media Server or the main user?

While I am not a fan of just renting, I would totally love to see a way to legally purchase TV Shows especially that don’t get released on blu-ray and be able to add to my existing personal media server that way. Is this something the Plex Movies & TV Store will eventually become? @OttoKerner

I’m told it’s definitely something that is mulled over, but apart from that there’s nothing definitive yet.

Ok cool thanks for the response! Would be an awesome addition to Plex if they figure out how to add that. Especially if Plex was able to get studio quality masters direct from studios like Kaleidescape does.

Hope we see that in the future!
