Quick poll - aTV iOS version?

5.3 of course!

5.3!

Using an aTV3 with iOS5.3. Just sold my jailbroken aTV2 on ebay a month ago and bought a brandnew aTV3 for half the price. Win! With PlexConnect the experience is even better than before. With 1080p you can see the difference. The only thing I really miss, is the not existing badge that shows the number of new episodes on top of every series folder. I really hope new updates past 5.3 won't break the PlexConnect support and thus use a transparent dns redirect on my router which prevents the aTV3 from updating. People with a router capable of that can do the same. in my case with freetz and the dnsmasq-service it can be done by adding the following to the hosts-file:

127.0.0.1 * * appldnld.apple.com
127.0.0.1 * * mesu.apple.com
127.0.0.1 * * appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net

And of course

192.168.177.3 * * trailers.apple.com

which redirects the Trailers-App on the aTV to my own PlexServer with PlexConnect installed (in my case 192.168.177.3). In this case you don't even have to modify the dns-settings on the aTV manually.

5.4 seed 1 (I'm an iOS developer)

Still on JB 5.0.1 for the native Plex app on an ATV2, but using PlexConnect more lately. Been thinking of selling it and going with an ATV3 with PlexConnect full-time.

Main ATV3 is at 5.2.1. Secondary ATV is jailbroken at 5.2 (just upgraded from 5.02).

Will upgrade both to 5.3 soon since i don’t need a Jailbreak anymore.

I wish Elans and the Main code will be merged soon.

Thanks alot for PlexConnect!

I’m only atv3 owner , but to all the folks saying they don’t need jailbreak anymore, I’m not sure as I’ve never had a jail broken atv but , maybe when it comes to channels / movies etc , a lot are not working at the moment with plexconnect, maybe hold on to that jb atv2 for a while first. But hopefully things will evolve more for atv3
Cheers , sorry if wasn’t suppose to post in s poll thread.

2 ATV2's - one running 5.2.1 and the other still on 4.4.4.  Haven't upgraded the second one yet - maybe will sell it and go for a refurb ATV3.

2 ATV2's both running 5.1.1 and running native jb PlexATV client 11.0b.

Have been keeping an eye on PlexConnect and have thought about updating to 5.3 and PlexConnect (and probably will eventually). I am a cautious fellow and the current setup works beautifully with the latest PMS 0.9.8.1 release (albeit its missing Now Playing and multi-user support).

Once PlexConnect has the following; I'll switch over.

- myPlex support (I have some remote libraries shared by Friends I want to still be able to use)

- Multi-User and Now Playing support

- TV Show Badges: Watched/Unwatched

- Auto update of the PlexConnect Proxy packages

Why do you think Now Playing requires client side support? Is it not missing from the native client purely because it uses the old transcoder?
Also proper implementation of MyPlex support will automatically bring multi user support ;)

It does require client side support, and there is more to it than just the new transcoder  (though Elan added most, if not everything but the myPlex tokeny stuff, with some of his early updates anyway)

Ah that makes sense why he didn't mention anything about it then :)

It was pre-annoucement, so it would have all been "here, use this, it's ah.... better" :)

See the links pointed out by Trudge ref the client side support required for Now Playing.

To be honest I have been holding out from buying an ATV3 and updating my existing ATV2's as I am curious to see what Apple announces towards the end of the year regarding ATV and the rumoured new Apple TV.

Having said that, I'll probably pickup a new ATV3 as the devices are perfect for my family's media needs. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing future updates.

Okay i am going to unpin this as it has confirmed our decision to branch the code today and tag PlexConnect as v0.1.

Please see the PlexConnect changelog sticky  or the releases page on the wiki for more details.

Hopefully it will be a quick path to PlexConnect 0.2 for those on 5.1+  :D

I'm on 5.3, updated the evening it came out, was previously on whatever the previous firmware was, and I had only updated to that about two months ago. Why? I was holding out for a JB that would allow for XBMC to be used. Thankfully that isn't needed with PlexConnect, so I'm very happy.

I would probably upgrade to next version as long as Apple does not decide to try and block PlexConnect, as it does give me the ability to do what I'd like to do with my media :)

Always save your blobs with Tinyumbrella or dump the current ones with iFaith and you should almost always get a path back to a jailbreak if needed.

Looks like most users are using newest version, can’t wait for that branch

5.0.1 because everytime I get some free time to update Apple pushes an update two days earlier that has no jailbreak.
