I’ve got these shows that were not recorded, but they’re getting scanned for ads and portions are being labeled as ads anyway.
What do you have set for this? (Triple dot menu ... > Manage Library > Edit… > Advanced)
If you have any recorded media in this library location (and you want it to detect ads), then change it to For recorded items instead of For all items.
If you don’t have it set For all items, then… that is strange, and we should look further.

I showed you in the picture. At the bottom of Advanced, is a menu option for ad detection.
This is the general setting for the library itself, where you pick whether your server will attempt to examine your files for ads based on if you say For all items (All items), For recorded items (Items recorded by Plex on the DVR), or no detection.
Oh. How strange. I cannot figure out why this option is not available to you. Do you have a DVR set up? Perhaps if you do not, then the option might not be available to you.
But if that is the case, I’d expect Plex to not detect and mark ads. I’ve got no other ideas.
it’s even more frustrating because the setting was definitely there before I made this post, I just didn’t have the options you were describing. it only had delete, mark for skip, or turn off
That option only shows up if you also have Detect Commercials and Mark for Skip enabled in the DVR settings.
Something does sound wrong if you have the DVR setting set to disabled but it is still following the settings that is now hidden for library ( assuming it might have been set to “for all items”). Unless these are thigngs that detected long ago.
ah, I must have turned that off when I was trying to fix this. I have now found all of the menu options that I have been told to toggle, I’ll let you know if anything doesn’t work.
is there any way to unscan the stuff it already scanned? I’ve got like six seasons of Law and Order that it marked up
There is not but does sound like a good idea for an improvement I will pass along to remove per show or per library sort of how Preview thumbs can be removed.
You can disable the button from appearing in the Android app via the Player Experience settings in the app. but this will disable it for all shows for that app.
You could probably do the Plex Dance for a particular show or episode but that would cause things to show up again in recently added
