Random files not playing, most still play, Easy Audio Codec error?

Hey folks, struggling to diagnose a problem, not sure if this is labeled right so if not please let me know.
Running Plex in Docker on a Synology DS224+, usually runs like a dream. Recently, though, I have random files in both my Movies and TV library that just wont play. I’ve optimized the database, deleted the contents Codecs, restarted the image and confirmed all the codecs were rebuilt fresh. The Plex Media Server.log file spits this out over and over again. Any advice?

bizarrely, unchecking “Scan my library automatically” under Settings → Library seems to have fixed the problem

If you enable DEBUG logging, SAVE, and restart the server,
after a few minutes you’ll see “No space left on device”,

Then you’ve run out of host kernel inotify slots.
Autoscan + Transcoder use them

You need to increase from the default.

This is the inotify table in the kernel filling up.

Simply count the total number of directories in use,
