Randomization (I'm feeling lucky)

Randomization feature suggestion
First off, thanks everyone. Plex is awesome! I really appreciate the amazing collective efforts of the XBMC and Plex teams (not to forget the effort of the mplayer people and the whole stack down).

Having used Plex 9 most days per week for nearly two years, there is one notoriously missing and sorely-needed selection feature: media randomization.

The ability to sort through lists of directors, actors, genres, years, decades, recently added, etc. from scraped web content sources is fantastic and is usually the aspect of Plex that most of my friends rave about. It would be really wonderful to complement "list browsing" with the ability to select a random media item: e.g. a button that would choose randomly among any given media item within any of these list contexts (directors, actors, all films, etc.). Typically we tend to watch films that we are predisposed to want to see and are likely to have a "heap pile" of stuff that we never get around to watching. This feature is for the benefit of those potentially great films or tv episodes that will always make it to the heap pile. It also obviously benefits the viewers of those forgotten films/episodes.

Examining the source tree through git, I'm having a little trouble figuring out where would be a good place to start with a randomization implementation. If someone more familiar with the source would be willing to take me up on implementing feature request, I would be more than willing to help however I can.

Many thanks!
