RasPlex does not recognize Plex Media Server

I have been using Rasplex for a year now and everything worked just fine until two days ago, when RasPlex started to only show “Watch Later” and “Search” upon booting. That’s really odd, because I haven’t tampered with any of the settings, it just stopped working all of a sudden. I’ve tried a bunch of methods to remedy the problem including signing in and out, reinstalling RasPlex, relinking PMS account - all in vain.

If I click on “Channel Directory”, then the following error displays: “GetDirectory Failed for:…”
Although I can see my PMS name with the little green icon under “Watch Later”, but clicking on it does nothing.

Also worth to mention, that I encountered a strange phenomenon when reinstalling RasPlex: After logging on to my wifi network an error message appeared stating “Network Error, did not receive a reply”, then it vanished after a few seconds, and my connection state changed to “online”.

At the “Precache” step, interestingly, only one item (which I had no time to read, because it completed so fast) has been precached, even though my server was listed in the menu.

Lastly, if I try broadcasting some content using PMS web interface, the following pops out on RasPlex: “Error creating the Play Queue. The server was unable to create the Play Queue”.

I’m using the latest version of both of RasPlex and Plex Media Server - without the Plex Pass addon.

I can second this and really am annoyed by it since i just got a few Pi’s to act as screenless audio players…
Is there anyone knowing whats going on with Rasplex or if there is an alternative?

Hi there ankokushoujo

Its probably a network related problem, can be something as simple as your RPI not connecting to your home network or as complex as having another device on the network answearing dhcp queries and giving some devices a bad gateway.

The later one being something that happened to us on a big network and was really hard to track
