ok before i get flamed with 800 questions here is my setup:
Dell Poweredge 1850 running Mint Linux and Plex Media Server
AMD Opteron 8 core with 16 GIG DDR3, 9 Sata HDD drives totalling 17TB with OpenMediaVault
1 Raspberry Pi B+
2 Raspberry Pi 2
1 Raspberry Pi 3
All devices connected through a 1 gig network, using Tyco AMP Cat6A cabling, a Dell 1 gig switch, a mini-ITX system running IPCop as firewall/router, and a cisco 1242AG wireless AP.
when I use the web interface i can see my entire library, but even with pre-caching each raspberry pi doesn’t, and what they see are not the same on each device. is there something I could be missing in my configuration?
By ‘entire library’ do you mean all libraries such as Movies, TV Shows, Photos, Music, etc., or is it just one library such as Movies?
Do you have any filters set on your RPi’s. For example I was browsing my Movie library and I had chosen the filter ‘Recently Released’. This changed my view of my movie library from 409 titles to 70 titles. I then picked a movie to watch and forgot to change the view back to ‘All Movies’.
A couple days later, I turned-on RasPlex and couldn’t figure out what happened to all my movies. I looked at the Plex web client and could see all 409, but only 70 were showing on RasPlex. It took a few more minutes before I finally remembered I had changed the filter.
I have checked that as well. it is very random actually. my movie library has 1743 movies, and 211 tv series. I do not have any music. I have gone from rasplex to rasplex making certain that there are no filters. the list is still different from device to device…
I will give you an example. the raspberry pi 2 in my livingroom has 101 Dalmatians and the raspberry pi 3 in my bedroom does not. but the web interface has both 101 Dalmatians and 102 Dalmatians.
Have you ever been able to see your entire library on any of your RPi’s.
Besides the Web app, do you have any other devices you could try with a Plex app (Android, OiS, Playstation, Xbox, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV ? Or OpenPHT on a PC.
When you say random, do you mean a Movie may appear in one session on one device, and then not show on the same device later (or vice-versa)
I finally figured it out. the problems was in the version of my rpi plex software. not all rpis were of the same version. I learned that I have to keep the server and all the rpi’s up to date.
