Oh, sh… can some moderator move this to the RasPlex forum, where it better belongs to — Sorry!

Situation:
- A PMS at home (not quite a honker)
- An upload link limited to about 1 Mbit/s
- RasPlex on a RPi and a MacBook in the office
- The office site has a very big data pipe
I set the remote video quality to 720 kbit/s to account for this situation.
Problem: Rasplex times out before the video starts to play.
In more detail: I pick a move the file of which has a bitrate above 1Mbis/s. Rasplex indicates in this sequence that the data needs to be transcoded to 720 kbit/s, that I should please wait, and then after 60 s that it was unable to playback media and that playback failed .
Sometimes I get it to work if I start the move right away again. Then the movie plays smoothly for the whole length of it.
I should mention that playback of moves that have a bitrate below 720 kbit/s is no problem.
If I use the web interface on my MacBook instead of the RasPlex/RPi combo, everything works as expected. The movie will start to play after an initial buffering period of about 20 s and run smoothly.
Looks to me like RasPlex tries to fill a buffer which is too large and times out before the buffer can be filled.
It may be worth noting that I see that the Plex New Transcoder process on the server continues to run for a while after RasPlex has thrown up the final error message.
I very the cache size setting, but that did not help.
